Nice piece, Aliette. I liked it a lot.

It was strange reading it, though, because it was very similar to a piece I wrote not too long ago--not in plot, but in the themes explored. It's off at the Jim Baen Memorial Contest now, and it's a story about an AI (the central intelligence of a generation ship) and its contingent of 800 that come face-to-face with Murphy's law.

Goes to show that there are no new stories, just different ways of telling them.

Anyway, congrats again. Nice story.
