Awesomeness
I've learnt that I've sold my alt-history novelette "Butterfly, Falling at Dawn", to Interzone, which makes it my fourth sale to this awesome magazine. Featuring Aztec immigrants, holograms, and a corpse in the nude (when in doubt, always put a dead naked girl in the story *g*).

I'm psyched.

Going through the novel to catch the diction drops. This is not as awesome, but it has to be done :)

And I'm preparing for Villa Diodati, an English-language workshop for Continental Europeans, the second edition of which will take place in Ile-de-France next week. Much writing, cooking, and socialising will take place.

I can totally understand you about the workshop. I used to really envy those Americans/English who got to meet other writers. Luckily for me, Villa Diodati came along.
Isn't there a genre writers' group where you live?

I saw your pictures of the villa last fall, I think....swooning with architecture lust...lots of towers. ;o)

Not much here. There are only 12 SFWA members in Oklahoma (including me) and 10 of them are on the far side of the state...I'm going to panel at a con there this summer, so perhaps I'll get to meet some of them. ;o)

Ah, but this time it's a smaller house. We don't do castles all the time :)

I always forget how big the US are. When you're used to living in somewhere smaller than Colorado, I guess it's much easier to meet than in 52 huge states...

We do have a small group of 6 that meets here, of whom 3 aren't published... Unfortunately, I don't really mesh well with their writing styles, which makes it a less-than-optimally effective group for me. (I'm the only female...you can extrapolate from that.)

But we are, at least, trying to get something started. ;o)

Three cheers, Aliette! I'm so happy for you! I've always thought Aztecs or Mayans and SF would be a great mix - but I've never had the courage to try it. You RULE!

I did sell one other SF story with Aztecs to Interzone before that one--"The Lost Xuyan Bride", in IZ 213 (December 2007).
